Emma Backer invites you to her opening on Thursday, April 28th from 7 - 9pm showcasing photographs created in tribute to Yves Klein and his color blue.
On May 19, 1960, The French Patent Office issued Patent Number 63471 to Yves Klein for his invention of a new paint mixing technique. This patent inadvertently led to the invention of International Klein Blue (IKB) a color that Yves Klein built his career around and artists and brands have referred back to ever since.
Join filmmaker Alexandra Henry and a catalytic group of artists for a special exhibition of the artists' work to benefit STREET HEROINES, a feature documentary that celebrates the creativity and courage of female graffiti and street artists.
In this installation participants will expose the comedian's most powerful tool, the punch line. Carefully crafted and timed for just the right moment, the punchline determines the fate of the comedic routine. When removed from context these short phrases can be disjointed, brash, or even irrelevant. Participants will be introduced to dozens of famous punch lines stripped from their timed context. Armed with chart paper and a large sharpie pen, the artist will script these punch lines and hand them off to participants to hang wherever they may choose in the gallery or out in public.
