is the first event introducing our Rabbit Summer program "MOVIES+JAMS", which will happen every third Wednesday of each month from June till August.

Performance of selections from Ned Rorem’s Ariel by the Nouveau Classical Project’s clarinetist Isabel Kim and pianist Sugar Vendil, with special guest Marielle Murphy (soprano).

The Nouveau Classical Project (NCP) is a group that re-imagines the classical music concert. Their work typically involves linking classical music with fashion, but for this special event, NCP will give a performance of selections from Ned Rorem’s setting of five Sylvia Plath poems to complement Fernando Arrabal’s Viva la Muerte.

8:30 pm
Screening Viva la Muerte, 1971, the first feature movie made by the controversial Spanish poet, playwright and director Fernando Arrabal. His semi-autobiographical cult film is based off his own perspective as a child on his father's imprisonment during the Spanish Civil War. With his joyfully violent and provocative work approach, Arrabal co-founded the Panic Movement along fellow famed director Alejandro Jodorowsky and illustrator Roland Topor in 1962, and was once a member of Andre Breton's surrealist group.
