This June we'll be screening Serbian Emir Kusturica's crooked romantic comedy "Black Cat, White Cat" opened by a live performance by the stunning brooklyn based folk orchestra "O' My Fate".
8:30pm
O' MY FATE
Front men Wilder Lee & Alex Genin join forces in a current incarnation of O' My Fate as they croon & two-step to everything from round-town A'cappella-gospel to Russian war ballads. They have honed a preternatural blasé style all on their own & are bonded with wild mutual interests in the arts-- both culinary & martial. O' My Fate use a broad range of musical and lyrical influences from Mukesh Chand Mathur to Darby & Tarlton, yet they have created a certain flashy brand of style not seen since Gábor Szabó. A revolving cast of squeamish & money-hungry musicians have joined them along the way. The O' My Fate project is the soundtrack to the great empire state.

BLACK CAT WHITE CAT
Emir Kusturica’s hilarious 1998 comedy is a riotous mix of farce, romance and crime. Set within a community of gypsies, it tells a story of dodgy deals, family ties, young love and magical occurrences. Zare is a young man in love with the beautiful Ida, but his crooked father, having botched up a black market deal, intends to marry him off to the tiny sister of a powerful gangster.
Originally envisioned to be a mere documentary on Gypsy music titled Musika Akrobatika, director Emir Kusturica evolved this film into a full-fleshed fictional comedy.
Set on the banks of the Danube, this colourful tale is crammed with bizarre spectacle, gees, crooked characters and gypsy orchestras.
