This June we'll be screening Serbian Emir Kusturica's crooked romantic comedy "Black Cat, White Cat" opened by a live performance by the stunning brooklyn based folk orchestra "O' My Fate".
8:30pm
O' MY FATE
Front men Wilder Lee & Alex Genin join forces in a current incarnation of O' My Fate as they croon & two-step to everything from round-town A'cappella-gospel to Russian war ballads. They have honed a preternatural blasé style all on their own & are bonded with wild mutual interests in the arts-- both culinary & martial.
Ben von Wildenhaus: A character straight out of an Aki Kaurismaki movie Ben graced us with a stunning performance last Thursday night. His minimal guitar melody and slides presented a perfect introduction to Kaurismaki's humorous yet dry cinema, especially known for his use of 50s-60's rockabily soundtracks. The video is part of Ben's collaboration with House Plants, a piece called 'Orbothology'.
Our May Rabbit Movie Night is pleased to screen acclaimed Finnish director Aki Kaurismaki's bizarro cult film 'Leningrad Cowboys Go America', opened by the video/guitar collaboration 'Orbothology' performed live by Ben Von Wildenhaus.
8pm:
ORBOTHOLOGY w/ BEN VON WILDENHAUS
is a collaboration between the video artists House Plants and the guitarist Ben von Wildenhaus.
Clara Kennedy is a remarkable singer and guitarist, blending Mexican folk songs, French reveries and classic American songwriting into a gift of charismatic, transporting sound. She plays around town and we were fortunate enough to hear her perform last night at Rabbit Movie Nights.
Last night at Rabbit Movie Nights, we witnessed a beautiful performance from Swedish group White Lamb, the music project of Anna Hansen. Her songs, lyrical and slightly haunting, are normally performed with her collaborator in Sweden, Lena Bohlin; however, the New York edition features a new ensemble, including sisters Klara and Cajsa Ejeby on trumpet, drums and vocals, and Brian Hill on bass and synthesizer.
Movie Nights are back at the Rabbithole! As Spring wakes slowly but surely, we are inviting you to the colorful world of Brazilian Cinema Novo director Carlos Diegues' road film "Bye Bye Brasil", opened by not one but two musical performances, Brooklyn based cello artist Clara Kennedy and Swedish duo White Lamb.
7:30 pm: WHITE LAMB Swedish band White Lamb will be performing in a unique New York arrangement, with vocalist/pianist Anna Hansen, jazz trumpet player Klara Ejeby, and multi-instrumentalist Brian Hill.
On the event of the end of the year 2011, and the beginning of the notorious year 2012, next Wednesday December 7th Rabbithole will be screening Jean-Luc Godard's 1965 dystopic sci-fi film Alphaville opened with a live performance by artist Christian Carbat Carana .
