In this installation participants will expose the comedian's most powerful tool, the punch line. Carefully crafted and timed for just the right moment, the punchline determines the fate of the comedic routine. When removed from context these short phrases can be disjointed, brash, or even irrelevant. Participants will be introduced to dozens of famous punch lines stripped from their timed context. Armed with chart paper and a large sharpie pen, the artist will script these punch lines and hand them off to participants to hang wherever they may choose in the gallery or out in public.
