WARREN SPACE, 2004–2005
2004–2005
Teodora Koleva
Before it was called Rabbithole, the space in the basement of 33 Washington Street was Warren Space, run by Shawn Lyons and Teodora Koleva. The name referred to a warren — a burrow hidden underground — "but no one got the reference", so it became Rabbithole. From March 2005 the space was also Rabbit Hole Studios, a small independent dance studio with a sprung wood floor, a mirrored wall and folding benches for an audience of 50. In 2005 it held three choreography showcases of repertory pieces and works in progress by New York choreographers, and gave rehearsal space to more than 15 choreographers.
