02 DEC 10: Pete Watts / Jason Bartell "Blessed Is The Infinite"

RABBITHOLESTUDIO is pleased to present BLESSED IS THE INFINITE— a two-person exhibition of drawings and installations by Jason Bartell and Pete Watts. Rendered in meticulous detail, the works featured in the exhibi- tion explore the dynamic between order and chaos—creating a space that re- flects the entropic descent of organized systems, and the quiet emergence of order from the chaotic void. The imagery and techniques evoke the aesthetics of the sublime- the push and pull between attraction and repulsion. Scenes of destruction and entropy are rendered in exquisite detail, at once drawing in the viewer and confronting them with displays of overwhelming scale and power.

10 SEP 09: Obscure Object Part 4
"Obscure Object Part 4"
a film by Stephen Dirkes, projected outside on the walls of 33 Washington St.
Thursday, September 10, 2009, 5:30 – 9 pm
We’ll have a free screening of “Obscure Object Part 4″ outside on the walls of 33 Washington St., Rabbithole Studio and under the Manhattan Bridge at 5 Front Restaurant from 5:30 to 9pm, in Dumbo, NYC for Brooklyn Art Project’s First Thursday Art Walk event Sept. 10th ( we know it’s actually the second Thursday ).
The latest in the “Obscure Object” series of short films is shot as digital stills by photographer Tal Shpantzer on location in Greenpoint and Dumbo, Brooklyn. From storyboard to final scoring, Stephen Dirkes has created a unique world inhabited by media agents, spies, lovers, watchers and hunters. The film features performances by Bara van der Kuech and Shawn Lyons. Roderick Glanville narrates the text by Shawn Lyons. Obscure Object Films 2008. On Sept. 10th, the film will be projected on the same building featured in the film.
The ‘Obscure Object part 4′ film, is part of an ongoing collection of vignettes exploring relationship of film making, photography and the language of cinema. A narrative is implied with the use of iconic cinematic imagery. The characters which populate the 1960′s ‘Spy/Action Thrillers’ such as “Danger Diabolic”, “Peeping Tom” and “Looker” lurk, run and shoot within the context of a scene with no story, no dialogue. Characters and narrative implications are drawn and evolve obscure meaning with a photographic approach to character, ambience, texture and color. The cinematic techniques of stop motion animation and time lapse are utilized as tools to manipulate time and motion.
