PROMISE RING: A new sound installation by Chris Parrello
Thursday June 4th, 2015 6 - 9 pm
In trying to write about Promise Ring I find myself coming up against the question of what it means to discover something. Discovery by definition needs to be something personal, one becoming aware of something new as related to ones awareness. The awareness is what changes, not the object of discovery, which may be old or new to itself.
GABRIEL MELLAN: A RETROREFLECTIVE reflective art in the dark made for the flash of a camera phone and a third-eye-LED
Thursday May 7, 2015 6 - 9 pm
The experience:
Contrasting the traditional gallery viewing experience, the lights will be off, use the flash on your smartphone to photograph the work. A third LED eye will be provided for you to illuminate the art and navigate the space. This exhibition is kid friendly, assuming they are a bit adventurous and can handle a cameraphone. Selfies and flash photography are encouraged.
Partial Mystery is half art opening, half social event. All of the artists will be present, so come hang out with us, enjoy some food & drink, and talk about the art on the walls around you. We're making the art world more accessible and a little more fun. The theme of the night is sharks, and we've interpreted that in many different ways. We'll be displaying sculptures, paintings, prints, and more. It's going to be a good time, so we hope to see you there!
DIN AFARA Solo Exhibition of Dan Sabau Opening Reception: Oct 2nd Closing Reception: Oct. 30th 7-10PM
Din Afara translating to "outsider" explores that artist's view as an outsider as well as the artist observing people who are outsiders. The work touches on cultures and people who are unconventional and thought of as being different. Real life as well as fictional characters are created to make the myths and stories of these people. The idea of the "death of the artist" is also a thread which is seen in the series.
