Description:

Communities are made of people with commonalities but each individual has their own story. As a photographer, I often meet strangers and am tasked with making a photograph that reveals something about them. In this exercise I'll be pushing my own limits and challenging myself to make 24 portraits of 24 strangers in 24 hours.

Rabbithole is pleased to present Pressure Me by Marina Markovic featuring performance, installation, video and a set of drawings. Throughout her career the artist has been exploring her own body and those of others, observing the process of healing from anorexia, pathological behaviors related to food consumerism as well as corporeal rituals.

The artist Phillip Stearns delivered a lecture on experimental electronics, circuit bending, and using sound to create imagery and vice versa.  Through feedback loops running from mixer to compact fluorescent bulbs and back to the mixer, and with no other sound generating instrument, Stearns is able to create musical composition as in the video above.

Rachael Hunt dances with the sound-sensitive neural-network installation Entitiy I (2011) by Phillip Stearns at Rabbithole.  Filmed by Justin William LIn on 13 NOV 11.  

Also, Phillip will be performing tomorrow night (Thu 17 Nov) from 7:00 - 9:00 pm for the artist's presentation.  His work creating glitch video synthesis through overlapping feedback channels, as shown in his Apeiron | Peras series of videos, is an awesome experience when performed live.

Rabbithole will be featuring works from Brazilian artists Rose Klabin and Rodolpho Parigi in an exhibition opening FRI 16 SEP 11. These works will be on view until 20 OCT 11.

Both Klabin and Parigi are considered among the most promising new figures in Brazilian contemporary art.

Come check out new works from global artist Cannon Hersey’s Silk Route series.  Mr. Hersey is an artist, curator, and founder of the organization CrossPath Culture.  The exhibition opens tomorrow at 6pm at Rabbithole.  Also featuring various works on paper and some exclusive limited-edition prints and t-shirts for sale.

The photographs utilized in the silk route series were taken between 1997 and 2000 in China, India, Mongolia, Tibet and Nepal.

The imagery and techniques evoke the aesthetics of the sublime- the push and pull between attraction and repulsion.
